This rock background comes in 2 sections (2 halves), because of the cross bar in the Juwel aquariums. If you have original Juwel internal filter in the corner, you should remove it if you want to install 3D background. We recommend any good external filter, you can hide the inlet pipes and outlet pipes behind the background.
The line of cut is straight, but when you join both sections with tabs provided, it will be less visible. You can use other ornaments or plants to cover the joint. You don't have to silicone the background inside, as it sinks.
The space from glass to front of background in some points is between 2 to 3 inches. Background is made from poly-resin, which is safe for all aquatic life. Our backgrounds sink, it's not a foam.
Installation is very easy, you only have to slide it inside your aquarium and background will stay in place. The background is not flexible, you can't bend it, but you may trim it by using angled grinder, hacksaw, dremmel

We fix foam/mesh strips on the side edges of the background to fill the gap between the glass and the background. So you don't have to do anything else.
You can hide heater behind the background and if you have a good water circulation the water temperature should be the same in every corner of your tank. You can add an extra internal filter or circulation pump next to the heater to push the warm water out.
Our backgrounds are made from polyresin and they sink, no silicone is required to fix the background inside. You just need to slide the background inside your tank and it will stay in place.

IMPORTANT: All the backgrounds in this section of the website will fit Juwel Aquariums WITHOUT the original Juwel filter which sits in the corner. The background will cover the whole tank back wall and you should use any external filter.
